The film explores the area via the experience of Maureen, a factory worker who has lived there all her life. It explores the impact of the varying fortunes of primary, secondary and tertiary industries on the local economy. Can the service sector replace jobs lost in manufacturing? We also explore the changing nature of the workforce, and discover problems of racism. Maureen's job seems safe - where will her grandchildren get work?
